The Dining Area

At the front of the main dock is our huge palapa style restaurant and lounge area. Fresh island cuisine is prepared daily with native foods by our chef and served by a gracious staff, friendly and eager to serve you.

Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style with something for everyone. Afternoon snacks are served by the bar or in the dining palapa. Dinner is served at your table with a choice between two of the following: meat, chicken or fish. Your evening meal is complete with home-made dessert. Coffee, tea, and water are available all day. We can cater to any special dietary needs with advance notice.

The Docks

At the foot of our 166 acre resort are the southern and main working docks, extending like fingers into the crystal Caribbean Sea. The southern dock is used for relaxing, swimming, sipping on your favorite drink, and late night star gazing.

The main dock, with the dive and snorkel shop, is the natural hub of the resort. This is where you will board the boat for diving, snorkeling and leisure trips. When you look below the docks, you will see marine life such as tarpon, bonefish, barracuda, stingrays, and nurse sharks.

The working dock is where we fuel our boats daily. We built the dock for the safety and convenience of our guests.

Optional Activities at Blackbird:

Recreational Kayaking: Explore the reefs and mangrove lagoons on your own in our sit-on-top single and double kayaks. These are complimentary for all resort guests.

Nature Trail: Over 25 species of birds are found on Blackbird Caye. Threatened nesting species include the Least Tern, Roseate Tern and the White Crowned Pigeon. Our nature trail offers a self-guided walk to learn about the medicinal plants on the island and the colorful birds. (Due to recent weather conditions the construction of our nature trail and viewing tower has been delayed. We expect to have a completed nature trail soon.)

Evening presentations by Marine Biologist*: A marine biologist from the nearby Oceanic Society Research Center will offer a weekly evening presentation on coral reefs, fish identification and behavior, and Turneffe’s wildlife ecology. The biologist is also available to answer any questions you may have about the underwater world.

*Note, on rare occasions the biologist is off-island and the lecture will be presented by a qualified guide.
