Where is Blackbird Caye Resort?
Blackbird Caye Resort is situated on 4,000 acres of jungle on the windward side of Blackbird Caye on Turneffe Atoll.
What are my payment options?
Prior to arrival, we accept Visa, MasterCard and Bank Wires. During checkout, at the end of your stay we accept cash, Visa and MasterCard. All prices are in US dollars.
Do you offer babysitting services?
Yes. If you’ll be traveling with young children, we can arrange a babysitter prior to your arrival.
Do I have to be a certified diver to go on one of your guided diving trips?
Yes. To participate in a guided dive, you’ll need to present a dive card or be enrolled in a course. If you don’t have a certification, don’t worry, we offer a number of dive courses on site which you are able to begin prior to your arrival via the PADI eLearning program we will provide a link for. . If you’re planning on diving the Great Blue Hole, you’ll need to be Advanced Open Water certified. If you are already Open Water Certified, you will be able to complete your advanced course prior to the trip, allowing you to dive into such a unique site.
Will there be any additional expenses that aren’t included in our package?
At check-in, we’ll open a tab for each room for bar and gift shop purchases. The Belize Tourism Board Hotel tax ($4.50 per person per night), Blue Hole, Half Moon Caye Park Reserve, and Turneffe Atoll Marine Reserve fees ($100.00), and gratuities are not included. Guests can pay their tab the night before their departure.
Is it safe to swim in front of the island?
Yes, it’s safe to swim in the sea during the day. Blackbird Caye’s saltwater crocodiles live on the lagoon side of the resort; swimming there isn’t recommended.
Do I need a visa to visit Belize?
Citizens of the United States and Canada, and those of most European nations, don’t need a visa when traveling to Belize.
What’s the weather like in Belize?
Our rainy season runs from June through November, with most precipitation falling in October and November. Generally, Belize is sunny year-round, with warm winters and summers.
What’s your tipping policy?
Dive staff and management can be tipped directly. All other staff, including everyone who makes you stay possible you may not see!, can be left in the resort tip box or by credit card with management at checkout.
How can I get to the resort?
Blackbird Caye offers complimentary boat transfers from Belize City every Saturday. Alternatively, you can charter a private flight to the island from Belize’s municipal or international airport. Flights to the resort take 10-15 minutes, for a one way additional cost. Five-, seven-, nine-, and 12-seat charters are also available.
What time should I be in Belize City for the boat transfer?
Arrive at Belize City’s Philip Goldson International Airport(BZE) no later than 2:00 p.m. local time. There, you will be greeted by a Blackbird Caye representative, who will shuttle you to Old Belize (https://www.oldbelize.com/) you can enjoy your day awaiting our transfer boat, which will depart at 3 pm. In the event, your flight is delayed or canceled and our complimentary charter is missed, a private flight charter can be scheduled daily leaving no later than 5:00 p.m for an additional cost.
If in the event both transfers are missed due to very late arrival, we will handle your reservation for an overnight stay in the city and a private charter will be arranged for an early morning arrival to the resort the following day.
When is checkout?
Guests can either leave on a boat transfer at 8:00 a.m. or book a charter flight that departs before noon. To ensure that you don’t miss your flight, we recommend choosing a departure out of Belize City anytime after 12:30 p.m.
What language do they speak in Belize?
The official language of Belize is English. Spanish, Creole, Garifuna, and Mayan are also spoken around the country.
Can I drink the water?
We generate our own water on the island through a commercial salt water RO system, the pure water is very safe to drink.
